About The World on a Plate
Most recipe websites are a grid of photos. The World on a Plate turns yours into a journey. Visitors watch points of light link up into a globe while dishes from ten cuisines orbit it. They spin the globe, select a glowing country, and the camera dives in.
Every country opens into its own miniature world, set on a giant plate: its colours, a skyline inspired by the place, its signature dish in the centre and its ingredients floating around it. Spices circle a curry in India, tomatoes roll and basil drifts in Italy, chopsticks lift noodles out of a ramen bowl in Japan.
From there visitors scroll through the country’s signature dishes in 3D, learn about its regional cooking and key ingredients, and open recipes with ingredient amounts that change with the servings. Each country they visit adds a stamp to their food passport, and they can save favourite recipes.
You don’t need a developer. Open the included editor in your browser to change the name, colours, countries, dishes, ingredients, recipes and stories, and watch the site update as you go. Add a new country by choosing it on the map; add a dish by picking one of 64 3D styles. Download one file and put it online for free.

- The editor saves a new copy of your website file; it isn’t a login-based admin panel.
- The sample recipes are written for home cooks. Check every recipe, allergen and diet label before you publish, and replace them with your own tested recipes whenever you like.
- Country borders come from Natural Earth’s public map data, including its lines for disputed areas.
