The Food Aisle Hamburger

  • Grill
  • Large mixing bowl

INGREDIENTS (makes 4-5 hamburger patties)  Ingredients for the perfect patty

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 white onion, diced
  • 1/2 carrot, shredded
  • About 2 TB freshly chopped chives
  • 1-2 sprigs fresh thyme 
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt

 DIRECTIONS 

  1. Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. 
  2. Wash your hands and roll up your sleeves. The best way to combine everything is with your hands, not a spoon.  
  3. Scoop out mix with hands and form into balls, then gently flatten on a cutting board to form patties. I find that 1 pound of beef will make 4 to 5 patties each time, but I make them good and thick.
  4. Grill them up and serve with toasted buns and all your favorite condiments.
